Welcome 2012 and all that!!!

Happy New Year everyone!  We hope you all enjoyed whatever you did to see the New Year in.

We’re not keen on resolutions but we are both agreed on one thing – which is to say “YES!” to even more things when we get the ‘chance’.

Quickly going back to Christmas - Doug gave James a fantastic surprise in the form of two copies of our blog, beautifully printed and bound as a  hard back book.  It’s a fantastic keepsake of our first year on ‘Chance’ – one copy to keep as best and the other to pass around to family, friends and anyone who isn’t too bored already at reading about adventures!

It was  produced in the States, taken directly from the blog, by Blog2print, very clever and very well done.

Back to the present and we had a terrific celebration on New Years’ Eve as we had been invited by Patrick Moore to welcome in 2012 at his party.  We were very pleased to be asked as he puts great emphasis on the New Year.  There was good food, good wine, his special knock out punch and live music performances throughout the evening ranging from the violin to the xylophone by some very talented people!

Here’s Doug with another '”new year Eve” – one of Doug’s clever card playing friends and a great friend of Patrick’s.  And, yes, that is  Sir Terry Pratchett in the background!  James had a very interesting chat with him about his work promoting a better understanding of dementia  and the case for assisted dying.  A heavy subject for New Year’s Eve perhaps but you have to say ‘yes’ to the chance of talking to him when you get it!

At about 1 o’clock, after wishing a Happy New Year to everyone from near and far (one couple even had to drive back to Liverpool!) we wended our way home after a surreal but very enjoyable evening.

  1. What a wonderful idea your book is. I must look at getting one done for my mother who doesn't have internet access. Nice to have you back by the way.

  2. Thanks Yvonne, the book is great, we to have ended up lending out ours, for family that don't have the internet! Hope to meet up with you both some time this year!
