Bathroom Progress

On our visit this week, we were surprised to see we had a shower room taking shape!

Chance March 2011 025

The tiles and border look great as well as the extended sink top, which will have cupboards underneath.  Mark, Martin and Rachel are doing a fantastic  job of building our ideas into “Chance”, its amazing to see all the planning coming together, it has been a great experience having a boat built, and MGM have certainly made it an enjoyable task.  We seem to all work well as a team as MGM have an enormous amount of experience and their ideas very often are the answer to our difficulties when it comes to knowing what to do.Chance March 2011 042

The shower screen will be fitted next and we have plenty of storage in the bathroom for towels etc.

Another trip to MGM!

We left at 6am! to get up to MGM on Wednesday, to check on the progress of “Chance” arriving at 9.30am we had a cooked breakfast at the yard and then went to take a look at the progress.

Chance March 2011 021

We couldn’t believe it!  We now have worktops in the galley, both sinks have been fitted, and all the tiles we chose are up, as well as the karndean floor tiles.  They all work great together and we are so pleased with the result.

Martin and Mark have also made covers for the sinks, giving us extra worktop space if needed.  Next time we go up the oven and hob should be in as well. which will be fitted in the corner to the left of the sinks.

The washing machine will go under the unit on the left.

Paint Job

The sides and roof were painted a few weeks ago but perfectionists MGM where not satisfied, so it was rubbed back and prepared again.  The stern has been given a temporary deck and sealed to keep the engine bay clean.

“Chance” ready for the final paint.  Rear door sealed against overspray.  We’ve asked for a small port hole in the rear door to allow us to see what’s going on behind after we’ve locked for the night!  It saves us doing an impression of a mere cat!

“Chance” to be shown at Crick

We have just received an e-mail from the organisers of the Crick Boat Show to say that “Chance” is included in their list of this year’s exhibitors…
Crick Boat Show

Bespoke narrowboat build and fit out. MGM boats will have on display “Chance” a 58ft totally bespoke cruiser style Narrowboat with an amazing American White ash fit out.

We agreed with MGM when we decided to have “Chance” built that it could be shown at this year’s Crick Boat Show, and we shall be on pontoon F14,  if anyone wants to come and visit us over the 3 days, 28-30th May 2011.

We are looking forward to the show, and meeting some of our followers and fellow bloggers!   With a bit of luck we will have a few weeks aboard Chance before the show.

LED Lights

One of the things we have decided to change on the boat this time is the lighting to LED’s,  the under cabinet lighting in the galley and bathroom cabinets and all the ceiling lights will be LED lighting which will be less of a drain on the batteries, and the ceiling lights have just arrived!

015

They are similar to the 12v 20w Zoe lights we had previously, the light is also directional but its a much flusher fitting to the ceiling than before and can be individually switched on or off.

005

All the window surrounds and panelling are now in around the Worcester windows we chose which looks great. The Portholes are next to be completed.

Decisions, Decisions!!

Whilst at MGM last week, we carried on “up north” to Nottingham to visit Whalin Upholstery, they are specialists in upholstery for Boats, Caravans and Motohomes.  Darren the owner was very helpful and we spent a few hours going through all the books for the dinette covering and also the curtains!
Fabrics 028
With so many to choose from it became an almost impossible task!  But we have decided upon the curtains, and we are going with cream leather for the sofa/dinette to match the swivel recliner chairs we have purchased.  We think?

More Pictures!

The Toilet has now arrived and placed in position.
027
We are having the pump out type as we had on our last boat, although we have a much larger tank this time that will fit under the bed.
028
The shower tray is now plumbed in.
029
We hope that “Chance” will be ready some time in April, so not long to go now!

Another trip to MGM!

We spent a few days at the Boatyard at MGM this week, and we are really pleased with the progress over the last 2 weeks.
006
The cabinets around the fire, and fireplace have been made.
007
And also the steps in the saloon. With storage underneath them…..
024
All the doors are being made at present so we are now trying to decide on the handles!
009
We are really pleased with what MGM has achieved with the dinette, its taking shape well.
008
The galley hasn’t changed much as we have been waiting for the floor tiles which have now arrived.  Once they are down the units can then be fitted in the galley.
