5 o’ clock this morning! Picture from our side hatch on our mooring.
Scrambled egg on toast for the crew before we set of.
Today was the annual Crafty Raft Race down the canal from Kintbury to Newbury and we were soon in the thick of the crowds and rafts as we left our mooring this morning.
We, very luckily teamed up with nb ‘Laura Jane’ with Rachel and Dave who we shared all the locks with to Newbury. It was a pleasant, if fleeting, liaison with two very nice people.
‘Laura Jane’ first into the lock with the most gongoozlers we’ve ever seen!
“Please don’t touch the exhibits!”
We were soon in Newbury and , very luckily, moored just where we wanted to be. A miracle today as it was so busy with boats. The rafts came past in regular succession.
Everyone was in high spirits and the lovely hot weather made it all the better. Its been such a great day.
After collecting the car from Frouds Bridge marina, where they kindly let us leave it for a few weeks, Doug is taking Kel back to his car in Hungerford and then taking our car home tonight and collecting the post, before returning on the train in the morning, while James and Frances are having a meal out in Newbury and some father/daughter time together.
Hi guys, we thoroughly enjoyed your company and your lovely boat as we shared the locks to Newbury. We will follow your blog and hope the wakes of Chance and Laura Jane will cross again soon.
ReplyDeleteBest regards Dave & Rachel nb lara Jane
