Our eldest daughter Vicki and her fiancée Tom joined us on Monday afternoon at the top of the Hurleston Flight for a weeks’ holiday. It was extremely quiet and we shared the flight with just one other boat.
Hurleston Flight of Locks.
We moored at Wrenbury for the evening and went to the Cotton Arms for a very nice meal, the gammon steak is huge!!
Vicki’s 4:30am view from the bedroom window!
After a cooked breakfast this morning we had a lovely days’ cruising. It rained moderately for about 2 1/2 hours but didn’t dampen our spirits.
Vicki and James on the back of Chance.
The staircase locks at Grindley Brook were also quiet, so no waiting to go up the flight. As normal, entry to first three locks was a bit hairy due to the side spill weirs.
We are moored tonight at Hampton Bank just below bridge 50. with fantastic views to the Welsh Hills.
“Chance” for a sit down and a glass of wine after cleaning the boat down.
Happy time!
17 miles and 10 locks today.
Its our favourite and we will be heading that way at some point this year! Try the Swan at Marbury http://theswanatmarbury.com/ well worth the walk and when you have eaten walk around the back of the church the view is fab!
ReplyDeleteHi Ali and John, we went into Marbury and The Swan when we were here 2 years ago, sadly Oscar probably wouldn't make it that far these days! Hope all is well with you both x
ReplyDeleteHi Guys,
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are enjoying life on the cut again.
We live in Chester and Wrenbury is not far from us. Let us know when you intend to return there on the way back and Chris and I would love to buy you a drink if you have the time.
If you use the hire boat facilities there ask for Steve and tell him I said he has to take good care of you or I'll be after him :-) He is a good friend of mine.
regards
Steve
