“I DO”

Today, quite by chance, on the same date (March 3rd) when we met 16 years ago, we took the opportunity for a “free upgrade” (well Doug always likes a bargain).

We were delighted to achieve full marital status in Chichester Registry Office with a very romantic signing of some paperwork.  Not needing any witnesses for our little “moment”, we were driven to doing a selfie of the two of us here by balancing the camera on a post.

Boyed by successfully running the fifty yards from the camera to the tree in ten seconds, Doug decided to do a close up selfie as well.

Leaving the registry office we walked down West Street in the glorious sunshine in this glorious city …….

…….. to Zizzi’s in South Street (it’s a very logical city centre to find your way around – that only leaves North and East Streets and you can guess where they are!)  Here we had a lovely lunch and there was no need for selfies this time as the staff were only too pleased to help.

Going back in time a few days, during our final couple of days in London we spotted a very rare sight indeed ……….

………. a C&RT rubbish harvester in action!  Trouble was there was no rubbish in this part of the canal to harvest – but maybe we’re being too logical. They need to look further down the Paddington Arm, there’s tons of the stuff there.

On our penultimate day in the basin we were finally saved by Pete and his fuel barge. Bags of coal had been shared around various boats and we were just about to start burning the furniture when saviour Pete turned up.  We got coal and diesel and then the law of sod stepped in and we finished a gas bottle the next day! Not to worry – we had a pleasant and relaxing week in the capital.
