We are still up at MGM!!

We have been here unexpectedly all week, but plan to return home today, its been lovely seeing so many boats pass on the River Soar to Thurmaston Lock by the boatyard, sadly its still not our turn yet!

But we do now have a wonderful cream leather sofa dinette, which converts into a double bed for guests.

We are thrilled with the results, MGM have done an amazing job, it matches the two recliner chairs we have brought, and is sooooo comfortable.

004 (2)

The Stove and chimney is all fitted now, we have been able to help out with a few jobs this week, cleaning the tiles in the galley and bathroom and lacquering some of the woodwork.

NB Chance 006

The oven and grill is fitted as well as the gas hob.

003

The fridge freezer is also now in place. as well as the washing machine. Which is awaiting its doors to cover it, these are now all being made for the entire boat as its one of the last things to do.

004

I will try and post some more pictures when we get home, but not too long to go now!!

A “Chance” meeting with Captain Ahab!!

We are currently staying up at MGM, for a few days as Chance is nearing its completion in the next few weeks, and who should pass the yard?  Andy and Belle on Wand’ring Bark.

001

Belle very kindly made us tea and let us try one of her wonderful homemade heart shaped spiced muffins!!! which where very tasty, (cooked in her new oven!) as we helped them through the lock at Thurmaston.  After going aboard Wand’ring Bark, they then walked across to MGM to see "nb Chance”  It was great to meet you both and we hope to meet up again soon for that glass or two of wine!!!!

A few days in the Isle of Wight

We have just arrived home after 4 days on the Isle of Wight in our motorhome.

Isle Of Wight 050

We go over often for the day but it was lovely to spend a few days travelling around the Island at leisure and luckily the weather was good to us as well.

Isle Of Wight 028

We walked up Tennyson Down to the monument near Freshwater which we have always wanted to do, and then went onto the Needles Old Battery.

Isle Of Wight 033

With a fantastic view of the needles out to sea.

We also met up with one of Doug’s old school friends who he hasn’t seen for over 25 years, as she happens to live on the Island. Thanks for a great evening guys at the Wight Mouse!

Isle Of Wight 020

Dave (Sian’s Partner), Sian and James back at the motorhome.

Sadly this will probably be the last trip we will have in the motorhome as we have decided to sell it as we will soon have the narrow boat to cruise on. So if anyone may be interested in a 4 berth, 6 year old motorhome, please get in touch! 006

Top paint job!

Chance March 2011 009

‘Chance’ is now looking superb in the final top coat.  The lovely Josher style bow , beautifully designed and crafted by MGM and Ken Martin, looks so good!  MGM say they still have to polish it yet!

Chance March 2011 010

The front doors now have their wooden trims and windows.  It will be taken out of the water soon for final blacking and  fitting of the bow thruster grills.

The brown paper protection was peeled back for us to take these pics.

The stern is as shiny as the front.  The large hole in the counter is one of the rear deck drainage points.
